Amit Chokshi, M.D.

Amit Chokshi, M.D.Amit Chokshi is director of the UF Laser Eye Center. He also serves as assistant professor and director of the cornea & external disease division at the UF Department of Ophthalmology. A board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Chokshi is highly trained in laser vision correction.

Dr. Chokshi received his doctorate of medicine at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. During his residency at Vanderbilt Medical Center, he began performing refractive surgery. He then completed a one-year fellowship at Laser and Corneal Surgery Associates/New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Here he specialized in refractive and corneal surgery, gaining experience in the latest techniques under the guidance of Mark Speaker, a renowned physician.

Dr. Chokshi's clinical and research interests include new keratorefractive surgical technologies, phakic intraocular lenses, accommodative intraocular lenses and applications of wavefront technology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the Tear Film and Ocular Surface Society, and the Cornea Society. Manish Patel, O.D.

Manish Patel, O.D.Manish Patel, O.D. is chief of optometric services at the UF Department of Ophthalmology. After earning his degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Dr. Patel spent several years in Jacksonville in private practice and as a staff optometrist for the Department of Veterans Affairs' medical centers and clinics in Jacksonville, Gainesville and Daytona Beach, Fla.

Dr. Patel is an active member of the national and state optometric associations and currently serves on the board of the Northeast Florida Optometric Society. He specializes in refractive, contact lenses and low vision services.
